The European Hematology Association was founded in September 1992 in Brussels, Belgium. Initially, the EHA held its congresses on the subject of blood diseases biennially at different major European cities. Since 1998, however, the congresses have been held annually in June and have occasionally also been held in the Middle East or India.
The European Hematology Association promotes research, training and clinical practice in hematology in Europe. With this aim in view the EHA congress brings together every year up to 3,000 scientists and doctors from all over the world.
